Vince Jones & The Astral Orchestra - Van Morrison’s Masterpieces
Multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Vince Jones has rounded up some of the country’s finest jazz and rock musicians for Van Morrison’s Masterpieces - a sensational homage to two of Van Morrison’s earliest albums: Astral Weeks and Moondance.
Grammy Award-Winning Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison came into the spotlight during the 1960s, most notably for his 1967 single “Brown Eyed Girl”, which shot to the number-ten spot on the US Billboard Hot 100. Morrison’s success furthered with the release of Astral Weeks in 1968, which, although not widely received at the time of release, is now hailed as one of his best works. Moondance followed shortly after in 1970, and marked Morrison’s first album to sell over a million copies.
In Van Morrison’s Masterpieces, Vince Jones and the aptly named Astral Orchestra will be performing a selection of classics from Astral Weeks and Moondance, making it a must-see show for diehard fans of Van Morrison. Songs that fans can expect include “Sweet Thing”, “Astral Weeks”, “The Way Young Lovers Do”, “Into the Mystic”, “Moondance”, “And It Stoned Me” and more - songs which have become a staple of Van Morrison’s stellar songwriting talent and expressive vocal prowess.
For fans of Van Morrison, Vince Jones and The Astral Orchestra are not to be missed when they band together to pay homage to Van Morrison’s critically acclaimed albums Astral Weeks and Moondance in one incredible evening concert directed by Matt McMahon.
Make sure to see Van Morrison’s Masterpieces at Home of the Arts on Saturday, May 11.
