But it would be wise to checkout future events and book your accommodation in advance. If you are planning to visit Gold Coast, you should know that there are several events worth attending.

In fact, here are three events you shouldn't miss.

1. 2017 Sand Safari Arts Festival
It's Sand Safari Arts Festival once again and Surfers Paradise will be transformed into a huge gallery where you will witness various sand and sea-inspired art based on this year's theme ‘Mermaids and Mythical Creatures’.

The festival begins on February 3 and will run till the 26th. If you want to see how sand is turned into life-sized artworks, don't miss the live sculpting sessions of the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships on February 10 to 12. The winner will be announced on the 12th but all masterpieces will be on display till the 26th.

If you're up for some exploring, join the Sand Safari and find all 20 works of art from Tweed Heads to Loganholme. While on your way, you might just see one of Luke Egan's (aka Filthy Luker) giant inflatable art. And if you're interested in sand art, don't be shy and join the sand art workshops which begins on February 10.

2. SeaFire 2017
Some of the World’s leading Pyrotechnic designers and producers are gathering once again for this world class event. SeaFire 2017 will be held on April 1 at the Surfers Paradise Foreshore. So get ready to witness a hypnotic and thrilling aerial fireworks display.

Moreover, internationally acclaimed fireworks show designers will also be competing. It's going to be London Olympic ceremony fireworks show designers versus Beijing Olympics ceremony fireworks show designers. Don't miss this spectacular battle as well as other preshow and intermission entertainment.

3. 2017 Gold Coast Film Festival
Attracting more than 14,000 attendees last year, the Gold Coast Film Festival continues to celebrate and promote film and filmmaking. For the 2017 edition, the GCFF will be showcasing Australian independent films, European drama and many more.

And though the film festival will run from April 19 to 30, there will be some pre-festival shows available starting with a free Kung Fu Panda 3 screening at Chinatown on February 4. On April 9 and 10, don't miss the fun at SIPFest or Shorts in Paradise Festival where Australian short films will be shown at the unique Surfers Paradise Beach outdoor cinema.
